Rob Tassell joined the firm in July 1989 and since then has been engaged in full time practice for the firm almost exclusively in litigation. Rob's principal areas of experience include commercial litigation, equity, property and conveyancing disputes, defamation and criminal law.

Career highlights include:

  • Extensive involvement in the Blackburn Royal Commission and the subsequent claim by Mr Blackburn against the State of New South Wales;
  • A series of successful defamation actions (and settlements) including Jarratt v John Fairfax Publications;
  • Jarratt v State of NSW – a natural justice case for a former deputy police commissioner successfully pursued to the High Court;
  • Tim Barr Pty Ltd v Narui Gold Coast – a lengthy property and lease dispute decided in our client’s favour in February 2010.

Rob's strengths include his ability to focus on finding the right result for the client and the most efficient and cost effective way to achieve that result, his strong professional relationships with a wide range of senior and junior counsel, an ability to choose the right counsel for the individual case and the management large cases.
